Guantanamo prisoners could soon be on U.S. streets

Germany News.Net
Friday 4th July, 2008

The U.S. government is concerned a Supreme Court ruling about the legal rights of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, could see suspected terrorists walking free.

The high court ruling, which gave all detainees the right to petition for immediate release, has given the Bush administration the impetus to discuss the future of the 270 detainees held at the U.S. naval base.

President Bush strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court decision that the foreigners held under indefinite detention at Guantanamo have the right to seek release in civilian courts.

The 5-4 ruling was the third time the justices had questioned the policies of the Bush administration on suspects held outside the protection of US law.

Attorney General Michael Mukasey had predicted that the Supreme Court's decision will unleash hundreds of requests from detainees seeking their freedom.

Judges at Washington's federal courthouse are already processing cases from Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The cases will force the Justice Department to say why the detainees are being held and defend the decision to label them enemy combatants.

National security analysts say if the matter remains in the hands of civilian courts, there is the possibility that detainees could be released in the United States.

They say the government will have to work out a legal method to ensure enemy combatants are not afforded the same constitutional rights as ordinary Americans.

Guantanamo prisoners could soon be on US streets

In democracy, a person is innocent until proven guilty,

And these prisoners have the legal right to claim damages for the time of their detainement.

America is a nation that respects its laws, and those who have abused the American laws should be brought to justice and charged for their abuses.

Justice will always prevail in America, do not sell America short because you will never have enough money to re-buy what you have sold.

liar

These prisoner are not only dangerous, they are tricky too. when its to their advantage to lie, they lie like a lamb. Unfortunately many egg head believe they are innocent, eventhough many were caught in osama’s training camp. To them these innocent killers should be released just because they said they are targeting other national, not american.

There are double standards in USA.

1. By the White House Idiotic law book

2. The Supreme court nominated by the Failed administration.

3. Lastly Anti-Islamic Philosophy.

Tgere has been no trials and if any have been a farse.
There is no evidence that these people did anything at all even the state department says that %90 are innoccent.
For all Americas CRAP about rule of law and freedom you seem to easily lead down the path of Inquisition style Justice with the torture chucked into boot.
You have DUG YOUR OWN GRAVES NOW LAY IN IT.
But realy do you not want justice for 9/11 or you just want to blowshit up.
I know if a family member was killed by someone I would want the person responsible, I would not just go out and attack anyone(mainly women and children in the third world) just because they might have the same skin colour.

David Hicks(5 years at Guantanamo) would be allowed to stand as a candidate for the South Australian Democrats after his release from jail, the party’s leader says. Sandra Kanck She today told ABC radio she would not oppose a bid by Hicks to run for parliament as a Democrats candidate. “I would be happy for that to be considered by the party’s candidate assessment committee,’’ Ms Kanck said. “I think people, if they make a mistake in their lives, should have the right to redeem themselves. I don’t believe in, `you make a mistake and you’re going to be judged on that forever’.”

AN INVESTIGATION into terrorism suspects held in US prison camps around the world has found that possibly hundreds have been wrongly imprisoned.

The eight-month investigation on three continents found that the US had wrongfully imprisoned suspects in Afghanistan, Cuba and elsewhere on the basis of “flimsy or fabricated evidence, old personal scores or bounty payments”, reported the McClatchy newspapers website yesterday.

at least seven (detainees) had been working for the US-backed Afghan government and had no ties to militants, according to Afghan local officials”.

“As far as intelligence value from those in Gitmo, I got tired of telling the people writing reports based on their interrogations that their material was essentially worthless," a US intelligence officer said in an email, using the military’s slang for Guantanamo.

American troops had dragged Akhtiar from his Afghan home in 2003 and held him in Guantanamo for three years in the belief that he was an insurgent involved in rocket attacks on US forces.

The Islamic radicals in Guantanamo’s Camp Four who hissed “infidel” at Akhtiar, however, knew something his captors did not: the US Government had the wrong man.

“He was not an enemy of the government, he was a friend of the government," a senior Afghan intelligence officer told McClatchy. Mr Akhtiar was imprisoned on the basis of false information that local anti-government insurgents fed to US troops

Let them free. They got to be free to fight another day. Terrorists are killed in numbers. They need to replenish with more hardcore type. Those residing in Guantanamo are good materials. Let them be let loose on America’s streets. Let Americans experience first hand what these people are capable of.

When are you going to relise you have been DUPED.
For all the torture and secret rendition(kidnapping)and all these called extra powers have you caught anyone resposible for 9/11 ???NOOOO??? These poor peasants are not any threat to America.
The real threat is the terrorists that run your poor deluded country.
If you new anything... most known terrorists have got a western countries university degree.
you need to blame a small country to use all your old weapons stockpiles as you can’t even win against a country sanctioned for 10 years or a bunch of desert tribes.

We are glad the Bush administration will respect the Supreme Court decision to drop this historical wrapper of war detainees keeping in Guantanamo, to set free the war detainees, let them go now before the new 2009 Sen. JOHN McCAIN administration in White House won’t make McCAIN’s hands too sticky with Bush’s legacy.

Send Them Home

If they are to be set free, send them back to Iraq. They can do their “legal claims"from there, kept them off American soil.

Oh they’ll be going home, you can bet on that. There’s alway’s something isn’t there. I laughed at the very thought of this. I once had a neighbor, who engineered her own idea, she got mad at me called me all kinds of names degrading my faith, afterwards a remark was returned and the idea she engineered went like this and just shot right out of her big mouth, “We’ll just make a muther f****** junkie out of you." She was so creative her father got the key to my house made, they broke in and put dope in the food, filled the screens in the sink full of a pretty mixture of different colored rock, all hard dope, and continued to sit and wait to see me become a junkie. When the plan failed they got a friend to try and tear up the computer and gave some Wiley hack programs and writes to a teenager who spread them all over town. On broadband everyone had them. All of this over one spoiled rotten little brat who didn’t move out of her daddies house until she was in her late 30’s. When I moved they followed. They it seems had made the mistake and felt the need to follow until they did clean up their own mess. Well I’m getting older now, not old, and tired of it and I don’t care what the notion of the week is or the popular idea, in fact I’ve laughed over much of it and then listened to the same people sell America land of the free.

When and if those people get out of that prison they’re going to want home.

Having a real idea is one thing but making it happen is completely another.

Guantanamo terrorists...

When they are released I hope and pray that they will in fact be sent back to Iraq, or Iran, or wherever they came from. We The People of the USA do not need proven terrorists in our country.

I will pray for them.

That lot haven’t been before any “court of law” yet, the phrase was “suspected terrorists”, for once I agree with Sammy “innocent until proven guilty” and this “We The People of the USA do not need proven terrorists in our country." !! You overinflated toad filled with copious quantities of selfimportance, your nation is so corrupt, you could not recognize “truth” if you fell over it!!

In any event the Gitmo prisoner are allowed to be free, I am hoping it is not in my back yard. They can do some damage if we will watch our back. Great we do have the greatest justice system in the world but they are there inside Gitmo camp so they can not operate any more or do more damage.

CLEAN THE HOUSE, AND DO NOT SWEEP THE DIRT UNDER THE CARPET; LIKE IT HAS BEEN DONE IN THE PAST

It is amazing how fear works upon the minds of simple naive people.

I must say, that these professional manipulators of fear, are and have done a good job in trying to break-down the American values that America has stood for, to promote their financial interests.

When will the American people finally realize that they have been taken for a joy ride by these people that have highjacked their government, temporarely to promote their interests through the use of fear.

I still believe that 9/11 was an inside job at the loss of innocent lives, to stimulate public opinion to promote through false evidence, and fabricated lies so that a personal war was waged in chasing a fanatic mysterious character who probably does not exists, and through the manipulation of the news media a state of fear is being imposed upon those who react to fear, so that these manipulators can continue with their personal war to increment their economical gains, and at the same time they are destroying America and its values,

I simply say: that these trators should be brought to face American justice, and then be sent to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, it is about time that America does some serious house cleaning, and not sweep this dirt under the carpet, like it has done in the past.
