German shares close higher Thursday

FRANKFURT, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- German stocks gained on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 35.75 points, or 0.23 percent, to close at 15,651.75 points.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.09 percent. Deutsche Post and energy division of Siemens Group Siemens Energy rose by 1.60 percent and 1.33 percent respectively.

Automotive supplier Continental lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 16.09 percent. Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen went down by 2.21 percent and 1.55 percent respectively.

Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 269.79 million euros (317.35 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 1.42 percent to close at 1.530 euros per share on Thursday.
