Egor "flamie" Vasilyev's six-year run with Natus Vincere is coming to an end.
flamie will play for the organization's academy team, NAVI Junior, in the upcoming WePlay Academy League Season 2. The 24-year-old Russian, however, then will test the free-agent waters for the first time since joining the team in March 2015.
flamie was supplanted in the starting lineup by Valeriy "B1T" Vakhovskiy of Ukraine in April.
NAVI COO Aleksey "xaoc" Kucherov admitted the team's recent success and penalties imposed by Valve on clubs that substitute players in the major circuit led to flamie's release from his contract.
"Taking these factors into consideration, as well as Egor's contribution to the development of the team and the club in general, we decided to give flamie the status of a free agent so he doesn't come across possible restrictions for his further development," xaoc said.
"Despite the fact that Egor is a NAVI veteran, he is young, motivated, experienced, and has fantastic aim. These characteristics are definitely demanded in ambitious teams."
With NAVI, flamie played in 12 Major tournaments and earned two MVP awards. He was part of the winning teams at IEM Katowice 2020, ESL One Cologne 2018 and ESL One New York 2016, and he finished in the top three in more than 40 other LAN tournaments.
